1. Choose the type of bed

We have divided our divan beds into four simple categories: open coil, memory foam, pocket sprung and hi-tech latex. These are indicated by colour-coded icons. Each type of bed offers different mattress characteristics and levels of support. If a combination of types is right for you, look out for beds that have more than one coloured icon.

The separate springs are arranged in rows and connected to one another by a spiral wire. An outer rod strengthens the edge of the mattress. Some higher quality beds will use a continual spring system, made from one piece of wire shaped into a series of springs. A popular choice that provides good support.
