Bensons for Beds’ Guide on how to sleep on Christmas Eve
Christmas Day is possibly the most exciting day of the year, so no wonder many of us struggle to get to sleep the night before! You know that Santa’s coming to see you, that there are lots of presents under the tree for you to unwrap and there will soon be lots of turkey for you to tuck into. But before all that happens, it’s important that you get a good night’s sleep so that you have all the energy you need to enjoy the big day. Here are a few tips to ensure you do just that.
Get up early on Christmas Eve
You’ll be more tired come night time, especially if you’ve done some exercise and prepared properly for the big day ahead.
Have you stuffed the turkey? Are the presents all wrapped? Have you blown out all the candles? Make sure you’re fully prepared before your head hits the pillow on Christmas Eve; otherwise you’ll be up all night questioning what you have and haven’t done.
Don’t watch TV too late
Avoid television or video games an hour before bedtime, as both activities are known to disrupt your sleep. Instead, consider reading a good book to wind down.
Take a warm bath or shower
Adjusting your body temperature can help you feel sleepy, so give it a go just before bedtime. If you don’t want to shower, enjoy a glass of warm milk instead.
Tell yourself it’s not Christmas
Try and treat the last few hours of your Christmas Eve just like any other night. That way you might be able to forget about the excitement of Christmas Day and get some vital shuteye for the day ahead.
Do it for Santa!
Remember, he won’t come if you’re not asleep. At least that’s what we’ve been told here at Bensons for Beds HQ!
