Oak bedroom furniture ‘offers solidity’
Those who are looking for bedroom furniture may like to consider investing in oak pieces, which offer buyers “solidity”, it has been claimed.
According to antiques expert Mandy Davies, the wood became popular during the 1920s, with items “of a farmhouse nature” proving particularly popular, while oak items tend to be longer lasting than alternatives and retain their value.
Ms Davies’ remarks came after a recent article for the Liverpool Echo pointed to the use of oak items by the Copper Pot public house in Knowsley, with an autumnal colour scheme providing the venue with a sense of warmth.
Writer Janet Tansley suggested the use of furniture of this types, in addition to table lamps and pictures hanging on “well decorated walls” created a “familiar and homely” feel.
