Regularly turning and replacing mattresses may help rest

The condition of mattresses can be improved by turning them regularly, one writer has suggested.

Writing for website Wonder Woman, former housekeeping professional at a Delhi hotel Swati Shama explained that this activity protects such items against developing depressions that could prove uncomfortable to sleepers.

Ms Shama also suggested regular turning of mattresses on bed frames can extend their life as it will ensure that no particular areas undergo extensive wear and tear.

She added: “Change the side and direction of the mattress every three months clockwise or anti-clockwise so that it doesn’t form a depression and give you a backache.”

Providing a series of tips on deep cleaning, she also advised replacing pillows annually in order to reduce allergens they may be harbouring and suggested buying a new mattress every five to ten years in order to secure good sleep.

In a recent article for Ezinemark.com, John Denny recently advised that investing in foam mattresses can help those suffering from back pain to achieve better rest.
