Remembering the importance of sleep during these stressful times

Since our last update, we continue to follow and keep up to date with the government guidelines; prioritising the safety and wellbeing of our colleagues and customers.

We have been working hard to ensure that when our stores reopen we have the right measures in place to keep our customers and our employees safe. From the 29th May we are opening 15 stores which will be the start of our phased reopening programme. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and colleagues is a priority. All our stores, once opened, will operate an enhanced cleaning schedule with social distancing measures and provisions in place, aligned to the recommended government guidelines.

Delivery FAQ

We are currently working very hard with all our suppliers who are operating at a reduced production rate to ensure they adhere to government guidelines. Our specialist delivery bookings team will contact you as soon as we have a delivery date confirmed. We kindly ask that you are patient with us and not to contact us for an update as this will restrict our ability to contact you when we have a date.

Due to our manufacturing facilities working at a reduced production rate to ensure adherence to government guidelines and to keep all staff safe, your order is taking a little longer than usual. Please be assured that all parties are working very hard to ensure we receive your order as quickly and safely as possible.

To ensure adherence to government guidelines and to make sure we keep our customers and staff safe, we will be offering contactless delivery, either to your door or to a room of your choice. All drivers will have the correct PPE including, hand gel, antibacterial wipes, gloves and face masks. Our drivers will call you on the morning of your delivery and will ask you a series of questions before fully explaining the delivery process to make you feel as comfortable as possible beforehand.

All our manufacturing facilities, supply chain and logistics teams are working to guidelines set out by the HSE and Government to ensure all products and staff are safe.

Yes, but we just ask that you keep all external and internal doors open in your home and ensure that you keep a 2-metre distance from our drivers at all times.

To ensure we keep both you, our customers, and our staff safe we are not currently able to offer an assembly service.

Our products are provided by a number of suppliers and each is working to their own lead times, so this can sometimes affect how quickly certain products are delivered. We also have a higher demand of certain products than others which also means that some products may be manufactured and delivered sooner than others. However, please be assured that every order is treated with the same priority and our specialist delivery bookings team will contact you as soon as we have a delivery date confirmed.

You may have initially received a delivery date of 2050. Please be advised this is a holding date only. To enable us to process your order, our system has to process a date. However, we are busy in the background working with our suppliers to confirm a date of when your order is due into our warehouse. Our specialist delivery bookings team will then contact you to arrange a delivery date that suits you. If your order is being delivered directly from the supplier, they will contact you directly to arrange delivery within the lead time quoted on our website.

Our website continues to be open for orders and deliveries are being fulfilled in line with government guidelines, ensuring these are done safely for our customers, our partners, and our warehouse and delivery staff. In order to achieve this, we’ve introduced important new measures to keep all of our staff safe, including recommended hygiene process, split shifts and social distancing.

Our deliveries will also be non-contact and we will discuss any specific requirements you may have before delivery. To ensure that you receive your order in the safest way possible, delivery may take longer than usual, and we will update you with any changes to your order and delivery times. Sleep tips from our sleep expert, Dr Sophie Bostock

For many who are being asked to stay at home or self-quarantine, this will cause additional stress. We want to support you so you have all the necessary tools to maintain your wellbeing. Here are some tips from Sophie Bostock, Sleep Expert for Bensons for Beds, to help you get a good night's sleep:

  • Sunlight increases the brain's production of serotonin, the feel-good hormone. If you're having to spend more time indoors make sure to sit next to a window to ensure you're getting a regular energy boost
  • If worries are interfering with your sleep, allocate a 20 minute 'worry time' into your daily schedule. Use this time to reflect and write down your worries before moving on
  • Regular physical activity is associated with deeper, more restorative sleep. If you're unable to attend your regular exercise classes, replace this with long walks in the outdoors
  • Sleep deprivation messes with the emotional control centres in the brain and automatically puts you on high alert; more anxious, irritable and stressed. Negative thoughts are more likely to pop into your brain but remember these are just thoughts, powered by a brain in survival mode
  • If all else fails, there is some good news if you have had a bad night's sleep. Your brain is very good at recovery sleep. The night after a restless night, the odds are that you will sleep more deeply
