3 Stylish Bedroom Decorating Ideas | Sleep Hub

Want to give your bedroom a makeover but not sure where to start? Take advice from Bensons for Beds’ senior visual merchandiser, Jess Rotherforth – here’s how to bring three popular looks to your space.

1. Grey bedrooms

If you want an opulent yet relaxing bedroom, this style is for you. Bring the understated colour palette to life with a grey fabric bed frame or headboard. Add some elegance with a cosy, velvet style – the more regal looking, the better. Layer blinds, rugs, blankets and floor-length curtains to soften your space and, when it comes to lighting, choose table lights or chandeliers that’ll create a warm glow.

Going grey doesn’t have to mean completely redecorating your space. Work with the colour scheme you’ve already got and add quirky grey bedroom accessories to freshen things up. But if your boudoir’s due for a new lick of paint anyway, why not go bold with grey walls? They add instant sophistication to pretty pastels and other neutral colours.

Top tip: Scared of grey walls feeling too dark? Just opt for a lighter shade.

2. Geometrics

Geometrics aren’t going away any time soon, so they’re perfect for your bedroom. Use pastel colours to keep the overall effect calming, rather than too lively. A pop of wall art or a cool rug in tones that match the rest of your space is a great balance.

Make a quick geometric update to your existing bedroom décor using cushions and artwork. They’ll bring your space up to date in a flash. Want a bigger change? Be bold and give geometric-style furniture a go.

Top tip: Mix and match accessories like lamps and mirrors in different shapes and colours, to complete your vibrant, geometric look.

3. Metallics

Good news – plain, harsh metals have made way for warm and soft metallic tones, such as brass, copper and rose gold, which are perfect for the bedroom. They look great paired with pale, stripped back interiors and a white headboard or bed frame. Make it a fabric style to soften your space.

For a quick update, try metallic accessories such as copper lighting, bedside tables and vases. Feeling a bit more adventurous? A metal bed frame and crisp, cotton bed linen will leave your bedroom looking fresh and modern.

Top tip: Keep your metal looking precious with a light polish made of lemon or vinegar and water.
