Why choose a divan base rather than a frame?
There are many reasons why you may want to opt for a divan rather than a bed frame:
You can buy divan beds with storage

A lower divan bed may also assist those who have difficulty getting onto higher beds or with certain mobility needs. Mattresses can differ in depth dramatically, and so it’s helpful to be able to adjust the height of your divan bed accordingly depending on the depth of your mattress.

In the 1960’s and 70’s divan beds were designed to match the mattress. Divan sets were available in all kinds of weird and wonderful styles. Although mattresses may no longer be designed to match the divan base, there is a definite trend towards the return of colourful divan bases.
Divan beds have come a long way since they were first created, and now there is a wide range of colours and fabrics available. Gone are the days of garish fabrics, and now you can choose from assorted upholstery-grade fabrics, which are resilient and robust materials in a variety of textures and colours. You can enjoy choosing from materials such as wool-effect and leather-effect fabrics, as well as plush velvet, and tweed materials.
